If you don't already have a domain name, the process of obtaining one doesn't have to be a costly or overwhelming venture. In fact, for a very simple website, you can even take advantage of the personal webspace that is often included with your Internet Service package - contact your service provider for more info. Because of Shaw Internet's access limitations to their clients' Personal Webspace (being only accessible through a Shaw modem), it is not a supported venue for my web design services. What about "free" hosting? "Free" is not always best for hosting, particularly when you need a professional website. These sites are laden with advertising & may prevent certain aspects of a website from functioning correctly. I recommend paying for full hosting and registration (most commonly yearly packages). It's not expensive for start-up sites. Through a comprehensive consultation with you, I will determine the most appropriate domain package (registration & hosting) for your current needs. You will have the option to make this purchase yourself or have me do this on your behalf. Flash Animation Website navigation, entry page introductions, free-standing animations, full Flash sites, or even games, are some of the possibilities available with Flash. The use of Flash animation on a website is a more expensive option but can often be the best solution to get the slickest look and feel you want your site to have. Cost is dependant on the extent of use throughout a site, and to what degree of scripting is necessary to obtain the desired effects. more... Layout As mentioned, I do NOT use pre-designed templates for ANY site I design. Each site requires different colour schemes, navigation systems, graphics, and organization in general, all of which make your site unique. Your individual needs and preferences will determine the final look and design of your site. Graphics / Imagery A unique logo or other symbolic imagery can help your work stand out from the crowd. I offer logo, image, and for-print design services (I do not provide printing services). Perhaps you need promotional posters, or t-shirts, or custom-designed invoices... Consider all that you need for your business - keep in mind that there's more than just a website to consider. Photo Manipulation Most photographs can be manipulated or restored in some way. For example, removing or adding elements of a photo to more effectively represent your work or service. Most damaged photos can be digitally repaired or restored. Please keep in mind that you are responsible for ensuring all photos and graphics on your website do not infringe on any existing copyrights. more... Scripting Site interactivity (including navigation) and the overall look of a site can be enhanced with the use of scripting. Whether scripting is used may depend on what the site is used for, or simply what you may prefer. Maintenance Once your site is up and running, occasional or frequent updates may be required. My commitment to your website doesn't stop just because it's online - keeping your content current is important. |
